Requirements to Open a Bank Account as a Migrant
Most banks require the following: ✅ Valid Passport – Primary identification document ✅ Visa Details – Proof of immigration status ✅ Australian Residential Address – Some banks allow accounts to be opened before arrival ✅ Tax Identification Number – Your country’s equivalent tax number ✅ Australian Mobile Number – Required for online banking setup
Some banks, like Commonwealth Bank, allow migrants to open an account up to 14 days before arrival and activate it upon visiting a branch.
